About The Position

The Senior Analyst, Payroll Tax serves as the payroll tax subject matter expert for TFI International, supporting accurate tax reporting, compliance, audits, and payroll operations across multiple business units. The role oversees payroll tax compliance, reporting, audits, reconciliations, tax notice resolution, and year-end processing in a complex multi-state payroll environment. It partners with Payroll, HR, Finance, external agencies, and other stakeholders to meet federal, state, and local requirements and improve payroll tax processes and controls.

Requirements

• 3–5+ years of payroll tax experience in a multi-state payroll environment.
• Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations.
• Experience managing payroll tax filings, reconciliations, audits, and tax notice resolution.
• Experience supporting payroll operations within an acquisition-driven environment.
• Experience with ADP SmartCompliance, ADP Vantage, Equifax Case Builder, and EFTPS.
• Advanced Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and data analysis.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary subject matter expert for federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations.
• Monitor tax law changes and coordinate payroll system updates to maintain compliance.
• Review and reconcile payroll tax accounts, tax filings, and ADP tax service reports.
• Ensure timely and accurate payroll tax deposits, filings, and reporting activities.
• Respond to and resolve federal, state, and local tax notices and agency inquiries.
• Support quarterly, annual, and state unemployment insurance audits by providing documentation and resolving issues.
• Perform regular payroll tax audits to ensure compliance and data accuracy.
• Use ADP SmartCompliance to manage tax notices, change requests, and filing activities.
• Support Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics, annual survey reporting, and other regulatory requirements.
• Perform W-2 and W-2C balancing, reconciliations, and year-end payroll tax activities.
• Assist with payroll integrations and onboarding newly acquired companies into ADP Vantage.
• Partner with HR and Payroll teams to ensure proper employee tax setup and maintenance.
• Develop, maintain, and update payroll tax procedures, documentation, and standard operating procedures.
• Identify process improvement opportunities and strengthen payroll tax controls and compliance practices.
