About The Position

Bureau Veritas Laboratories is seeking a Senior Analyst for the Metals Section. This is a full-time position where the Senior Analyst will assist the Supervisor/Manager in coordinating daily activities. The role requires a results-oriented individual focused on producing high-quality, defensible analytical data safely and on time, adhering to Standard Operating Procedures. This position serves as a resource for Laboratory Technicians and Analysts, providing guidance on laboratory procedures and complex analyses, and contributing to the development of a strong team of analytical professionals.

Requirements

  • B.Sc., technical diploma or equivalent experience
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in specific environment
  • Knowledge of, and experience with laboratory Occupational Health and Safety practices to handle hazardous materials by taking the necessary precautions
  • Up-to-date knowledge of laboratory processes and automation
  • Thorough understanding of Bureau Veritas’ Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)
  • Ability to mentor junior staff to effect process changes
  • Ability to act as Department Lead when Manager or Supervisor are absent
  • Assesses problems and recommends solutions
  • Inspires, motivates and participates in building a strong team environment
  • Uses good judgment, trains and assists in resolution of employee relations issues
  • Flexible to perform varying duties to accommodate changing priorities
  • Accurately follows Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and instructions
  • Detail oriented with accurate record keeping skills

Responsibilities

  • Prioritize jobs according to rush and client specific deadlines, monitor workload summary and prioritizes / shift activities to meet test deadlines
  • Liaise and communicate with customer service, project managers, scientific specialists, and login staff as required
  • Ensure instruments are fully functional and report any equipment/staff issues to Supervisor / Manager immediately
  • Ensure staff follow all SOPs
  • Assist with analyst training and proficiency
  • Provide technical expertise to staff on a day-to-day basis
  • Provide backup support to section supervisor
  • Review, report and/or validate analytical and quality control data. Investigate quality issues and implement corrective actions
  • Must be familiar with the operational activities of other areas, such as Sample Reception/Inspection, Pre-processing
  • All other responsibilities as assigned.
  • Suggests and helps to implement production efficiencies
  • Participates, when requested in internal and external audits
  • Develops Standard Operating Procedures and general work instructions
  • Proactively orders supplies and maintains appropriate inventory levels
