About The Position

BMO Capital Markets is seeking an Analyst to join the Metals & Mining team in Toronto. This role involves providing deep industry sector expertise, innovative thinking, and world-class execution across a full suite of products to clients through an integrated Capital Markets platform. The Analyst will collaborate to generate client-focused solutions, develop marketing and pitch materials, support deal teams, and strive to understand client needs and outcomes. The position also focuses on identifying opportunities for increased efficiency, providing analytical findings, supporting strategic initiatives, building effective relationships, and ensuring stakeholder alignment. The role requires completing quality reports and analyses, researching and analyzing financial and operating information, performing complex financial modeling and valuation analysis, creating statistical exhibits and trend analysis, and applying technical concepts. The Analyst will develop proficiency in required systems and models, provide feedback for continuous improvement, integrate information from multiple sources, and deliver financial modeling to support strategic recommendations. Risk, internal controls, and compliance are key considerations, and adherence to policies and procedures is expected. The focus may be on a specific business/group, and the role requires creative thinking, problem-solving within given rules, and working mostly independently, with broader accountabilities assigned as needed.

Requirements

  • An undergraduate degree with academic coursework in finance, economics, or accounting and an outstanding academic achievement.
  • Financial analysis training and experience preferred.
  • 0 - 2 years of successive relevant experience within investment and/or corporate banking experience based on business requirements.
  • Highly skilled in building complex financial models.
  • Expertise in financial computer applications and database management tools.
  • Skilled in creating statistical presentations.
  • Specialized knowledge from education and/or business experience.
