About The Position

The Senior Analyst, Fuel Market Analysis and Projects is responsible for many aspects of JetBlue’s fuel operation and management. They wear two main hats: the first, as a finance analyst, forecasting the fuel expense, inclusive of external industry research; and second, as a business and data analyst, guiding and executing on ongoing digital transformation initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field OR demonstrated capability to perform job responsibilities with a combination of a High School Diploma/GED and at least four (4) years of previous related work experience
  • Three (3) years professional experience in finance or oil & gas
  • Working knowledge of SQL, ideally Snowflake
  • Experience using Microsoft Office suite
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Previous experience analyzing large datasets in Excel
  • Strong analytical and presentation skills
  • A self-starter with the ability to prioritize assignments
  • Excellent written and verbal communication including ability to interact with executive leadership
  • Available for business air travel, overnight or day travel (5%)
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug test
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located

Responsibilities

  • Running a weekly fuel forecast including changing components such as Brent, Jet Crack / Crack Spread, fees, taxes, and gallons, and reporting on it every week to senior leadership
  • Preparing PowerPoint decks and analyses for board meetings, earnings calls, and monthly presentations to senior leaders, highlighting fuel team initiatives, geopolitical market dynamics, and fuel price forecast
  • Innovating methodologies to analyze data (mostly financial) in new ways, to answer new questions or improve forecasting accuracy
  • Handling various types of fuel-related datasets (usually in Excel) and consolidating and analyzing them for purposes of reconciliation, bid analysis (during annual fuel procurement), forecasting, and ad hoc project support
  • Business partner outreach and collaboration: disputing invoices, supporting annual price negotiation, troubleshooting pain points
  • Leading collaborations with various internal stakeholders, such as FP&A, Accounting, Investor Relations, IT, Dispatch, etc.
  • Owning investigation, stakeholder coordination, change management, and implementation of any fuel-related improvement opportunities that arise
  • Viewing all tasks with an eye for process improvement, and applying those ideas where applicable
  • Other duties as assigned
