About The Position

As a Senior Analyst on the Capital Markets Risk Management (CMRM) team, you'll assist the Director, Market Risk Solutions by providing subject matter expertise in developing robust and sustainable solutions for market risk capture within our market risk systems. You'll build and maintain strong working relationships across a matrix organization, collaborating closely with both CMRM groups (Trade Floor Risk Managers, Data, Governance, Reporting, Quantitative Solutions) and non-CMRM stakeholders (Risk Technology, Front Office and FO Technology, Model Vetting, Finance, Audit). Your expertise will help ensure our market risk processes are methodologically sound and operationally efficient, supporting the ongoing evolution of risk measurement at CIBC. You'll play a key role in driving projects forward, engaging stakeholders, and contributing to the strategic direction of market risk initiatives. Within CMRM, the Risk Measurement, Systems & Reporting (RMSR) group is accountable for developing and maintaining a disciplined approach to the governance, monitoring and control of the bank’s counterparty credit, market, liquidity, funding, insurance and pension risk taking activities, and the associated risk systems. Within RMSR, Market Risk Solutions group is responsible for: developing and maintaining systems and processes for robust market risk and CVA regulatory capital calculations, and internal market risk measurement, reporting, and monitoring; supporting new business initiatives within CIBC Capital Markets; meeting the requirements for business information, including market risk reporting and limit monitoring; and delivering on regulatory initiatives in Market Risk space.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in Business Analysis, Quantitative field or related role.
  • Certified professional with current accreditation and good standing in FRM.
  • Analytical skills, ability to investigate complex problems and make sense of information.
  • Confident ability to communicate detailed information in an impactful way.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Critical thinking skills inform decision making.
  • Digitally savvy and experienced with relational databases.
  • Comfortable manipulating large datasets using languages and tools such as SQL, VBA, Python, PowerShell, or R.
  • Ability to adapt easily to new technologies, including AI and machine learning trends.

  • Degree in a quantitative field.
  • Solid understanding of Capital Markets products and their pricing principles.
  • Solid understanding of market risk metrics, models (sensitivities/VaR/Stress/Backtesting) and regulations.
  • Solid understanding of regulatory capital calculations (e.g. FRTB, and Basel III CVA).

Responsibilities

  • Perform thorough analysis while applying existing and/or developing new market risk related knowledge.
  • Understand issues, document the existing state, and the required changes.
  • Propose and help build consensus on solutions.
  • Contribute to the definition of business processes.
  • Plan and execute testing, and present testing results to stakeholders.
  • Effectively manage a portfolio of Market Risk projects/change requests.
  • Address and overcome technical and/or business obstacles as they arise.
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders within and outside of CMRM to ensure timely completion of testing, sign off and delivery of projects within the applicable project delivery frameworks (Agile & Waterfall).
