About The Position

The Senior Analyst, Data Risk Management will support execution of a scalable, preventative, and insight-driven approach to data risk management across U.S. Consumer Services (USCS). The role works closely with Business, Technology, Risk, and Data Office partners to identify, assess, monitor, and mitigate data risks, and contributes to control implementation, issue remediation, and continuous improvement of the data control environment. The USCS Data Office advances data governance and data risk management across USCS, partnering across business, technology, risk, and Enterprise Data Management to strengthen controls, improve data quality, and support effective management of data as a strategic asset. USCS delivers membership benefits and services across travel, dining, entertainment, and retail, supported by its consumer portfolios, Membership Rewards, Travel & Lifestyle Services, Centurion Lounge network, Global Dining, U.S. Consumer Banking, Amex Offers, Amex Ads, and marketing programs.

Requirements

1–3 years of experience in data management, analytics, risk management, controls, technology, AI, operations, or a related discipline.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify trends, risks, and actionable insights from data.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a collaborative environment.
Employment eligibility to work with American Express in the United States; the company will not pursue visa sponsorship for these positions.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor's degree in information systems, Data Analytics, Computer Science, Business, Risk Management, Finance, or a related field.
Experience in financial services or another highly regulated industry.
Familiarity with data management concepts such as data quality, lineage, metadata, stewardship, and governance.
Knowledge of enterprise risk, operational risk, issue management, or control frameworks.
Experience with reporting, dashboarding, or data visualization tools.
Basic understanding of SQL, relational databases, and/or ETL/Data Engineering.
Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms, data architecture, or modern data ecosystems.
Experience with Generative AI, Agentic AI, Python, and/or Workflow Automation.

Responsibilities

Execute data risk management activities supporting governance of business processes, systems, and data assets across USCS.
Partner with Business, Technology, Risk, and Data Office teams to identify, assess, and mitigate data risks.
Analyze data, controls, and processes to identify risk trends, control gaps, and remediation opportunities.
Support implementation and monitoring of data controls that improve data quality, stewardship, lineage, and policy adherence.
Execute risk assessments, issue management activities, and remediation efforts across critical business domains.
Develop reporting and insights to monitor data risk, control performance, and governance objectives.
Perform root cause analysis on complex business, data, operational, and control issues and support effective remediation.
Support identification and documentation of critical data elements, data flows, and key data dependencies.
Maintain documentation and evidence supporting risk management, governance, and regulatory compliance activities.
Translate data risk and control findings into actionable recommendations for Business and Technology partners.
Contribute to the ongoing evolution of data governance and data risk management practices across USCS.
Leverage AI and automation to improve efficiency.
