About The Position

The Senior Analyst (Certification Engineer) for Water Product is responsible for the global electrical and drinking water certification approvals for new, changed and existing products. Requires interfacing and communications with global third party certifiers, global suppliers, and other internal functional areas of the business as needed.

Requirements

  • 3 to 7+ years of experience in product compliance, regulatory affairs, or quality engineering within a regulated manufacturing environment (appliance, plumbing, or electromechanical hardware)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated success serving as the primary technical point of contact for external testing agencies, auditing bodies, and certification authorities.
  • Direct experience navigating UL and or IEC product safety standards.
  • Deep understanding of material restrictions for wetted parts, including elastomeric compounds, plastics, and metallic alloys meeting lead-free and potable water standards.
  • Hands-on experience securing public health and safety listings, specifically NSF/ANSI 61 (Drinking Water System Components - Health Effects), NSF/ANSI 372 (Lead-Free compliance), and drinking water treatment unit standards (NSF/ANSI 42, 53, or 58).
  • Proven track record securing and maintaining Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC) and plumbing standard compliance (e.g., ASME A112.18.1/CSA B125.1) for water-handling components and assemblies.
  • Communication and project management skills are important.

Responsibilities

  • Identify Applicable Electrical and Drinking Water Standards: Determine the exact standards required for the target product and market that supports product safety and legal requirements.
  • Review early-stage product designs against standards to identify non-compliance risks ensuring all critical electrical components are already recognized/listed.
  • Managing Agency Deliverables: Define and prepare project inputs, track submittments, respond to findings, and push projects through to final listing.
  • Lead facilities and suppliers through unannounced audits by inspectors. Ensure that the factory is using the exact components specified in the certification reports.
  • Act as the gatekeeper for design changes. Review and evaluate proposed changes and determine if re-submittal to NSF, UL, or the like are needed.
  • Educate the NPD team on why certain materials or design elements are required, preventing costly redesigns late in the product launch cycle.
  • Work with procurement to ensure suppliers provide the necessary material formulations and UL yellow cards upfront.
  • Collaboratively exchange information with other functional team members. Provide technical support to these other groups. Expand knowledge by asking questions and applying learnings.
