About The Position

BlackSky is seeking a Senior Analyst, Business Intelligence to support data-driven decision-making across its space-based intelligence business, with a focus on constellation capacity, customer demand, and product performance. Reporting to the Senior Director of Product Management, the analyst will build on existing Python-, SQL-, and Excel-based analytical tools and datasets while developing analyses that connect operational and commercial data to business decisions. The role calls for a combination of analytical and technical skills, commercial judgment, and the ability to carry analyses from data through recommendations and conclusions. The analyst will work with distributed datasets, determine which questions to investigate, develop practical analytical approaches, and communicate clear insights to Product, Sales, and other go-to-market stakeholders. Satellite industry experience is not required; intellectual curiosity, the ability to learn complex systems, and comfort moving between detailed analysis and broader business context are essential.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative, technical, business, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • At least five years of experience in business intelligence, analytics, data science, or a related analytical role.
  • Advanced proficiency in Python for data analysis and familiarity with SQL.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex business questions into structured analysis.
  • Strong business and technical acumen, with strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Outstanding attention to detail and commitment to analytical accuracy.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally approximately 5% of working days.
  • Ability to operate independently, effectively, and decisively in a highly technical, data-rich environment with minimal guidance, along with intellectual curiosity.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain required U.S. Department of State authorizations under U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including ITAR.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced graduate degree in a quantitative or technical field, or an MBA.
  • Professional experience with geospatial and/or remote sensing data.
  • Experience working with product and sales organizations.
  • Experience at a startup or rapidly innovating company.

Responsibilities

  • Translate complex business questions into structured analytical problems, identify the required data, develop and apply analytical methodologies, and communicate actionable conclusions to inform decision-making.
  • Conduct constellation capacity analyses across geographies and products.
  • Own and evolve core business intelligence datasets and analytical tools used to evaluate customer ordering behavior, product usage, revenue, pricing dynamics, and operational performance across customer segments.
  • Maintain, improve, and expand existing Python- and SQL-based workflows that ingest, standardize, enrich, and analyze large operational datasets.
  • Partner with Product, Sales, and other go-to-market teams to evaluate prospective deals, product structures, customer requirements, and commercial tradeoffs using quantitative analysis and other relevant business context.
  • Improve the organization, documentation, modularity, and reproducibility of the existing analytical codebase so tools can be maintained and extended over time.
  • Communicate findings clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders, including assumptions, limitations, and business implications.
