About The Position

The S&P Global Ratings Americas Public Finance Not-For-Profit (NFP) Health Care team is seeking a Senior Analyst. This role is primarily responsible for leading credit analysis for acute care hospital, health system, senior living, and human service provider ratings across the nation. The analyst will meet with issuers, assess historical and projected data, and compile this information into thorough committee presentations with written analysis. Opportunities may arise to participate in complex analytical situations, assist clients, join investor calls with senior analysts, and contribute to research publications or special projects. As careers progress, there's potential to present at conferences, write opinion pieces, or speak with the media. This position is considered mid-level with high potential for upward mobility based on aptitude, attitude, and analytical understanding of the healthcare sector. The role contributes to talent development and expertise in municipal healthcare credit analysis.

Requirements

  • 2-5+ years of experience in the municipal markets (a plus).
  • Health care sector experience is highly relevant.
  • A bachelor's degree is required.
  • Ability to connect the value creation of day-to-day work with in-year priorities and demonstrate decision-making authority over assigned work.
  • Strong interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills in front of internal and external audiences.
  • Strong attention to detail and demonstrated skills in quantitative analysis.
  • Ability to accurately interpret data and appropriately apply criteria to generate key relevant analytical insights and conclusions.
  • Ability to take initiative to identify and address problems or suggest process improvements while paying attention to details that others may miss.
  • Candidates who reach the final stage of the interview process must attend at least one in-person interview.

Responsibilities

  • Meet with issuers and assess historical and projected data.
  • Compile information into thorough committee presentations, including effective written analysis.
  • Serve as the primary analyst on credit transactions and prepare well-supported rating recommendations for rating committees, with clear rating reports supporting credit opinions.
  • Serve as an active, vocal voting member of the rating committee, deliberating rating outcomes and reviewing materials prior to publication.
  • Publish timely and insightful credit reports and contribute to relevant research pieces.
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of ratings criteria and financial statement analysis, staying informed on relevant news and issues affecting credit quality in the health care space and municipal bond market.
  • Participate in moderately complex analytical and deal-specific situations.
  • Assist in resolving client needs and participate in investor calls with more senior analysts.
  • Contribute to research publications or special projects.
  • All employees are required to work from the office a minimum of 2 days per week.
