About The Position

The S&P Global Ratings Americas Public Finance Not-For-Profit (NFP) Health Care team is seeking a Senior Analyst. This role primarily involves leading credit analysis for acute care hospitals, health systems, senior living, and human service provider ratings nationwide. Responsibilities include meeting with issuers, assessing financial data, and preparing comprehensive committee presentations with written analyses. The position also offers opportunities to participate in complex analytical situations, assist clients, join investor calls with senior analysts, and contribute to research publications and special projects. As the career progresses, there's potential to present at conferences, write opinion pieces, and engage with the media. Requirements

  • 2-5+ years of experience in the municipal markets (a plus); health care sector experience is highly relevant.
  • A bachelor's degree is required.
  • Ability to connect the value creation of day-to-day work with in-year priorities and demonstrate decision-making authority over assigned work.
  • Strong interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills in front of internal and external audiences.
  • Strong attention to detail and demonstrated skills in quantitative analysis.
  • Ability to accurately interpret data and appropriately apply criteria to generate key relevant analytical insights and conclusions.
  • Ability to take initiative to identify and address problems or suggest process improvements while paying attention to details that others may miss.
  • All candidates who reach the final stage of the interview process must attend at least one in-person interview.

Responsibilities

  • Meet with issuers, assess historical and projected data, and compile this information into thorough committee presentations.
  • Serve as the primary analyst on credit transactions and prepare well-supported rating recommendations for rating committees, with clear rating reports supporting our credit opinion.
  • Serve as an active, vocal voting member of the rating committee, which deliberates rating outcomes and reviews materials prior to publication.
  • Publish timely and insightful credit reports as well as contribute to relevant research pieces.
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of ratings criteria and financial statement analysis, while staying informed on relevant news and issues affecting credit quality in the health care space and municipal bond market.
  • Participate in moderately complex analytical and deal-specific situations.
  • Assist in resolving client needs and participate in investor calls with more senior analysts.
  • Contribute to research publications or special projects.
