About The Position

BMO Global Asset Management’s Alternatives Team is seeking a Senior Analyst to support the end-to-end lifecycle of the Alternatives Partnerships business and its investment solutions. This role combines investment analysis and due diligence with fund building and ongoing fund oversight, while also helping deliver high-quality client materials and timely client support. BMO GAM Alternatives builds and manages alternative investment solutions (private markets and hedge funds) through a combination of in-house capabilities and best‑in‑class global manager partnerships, designed to be accessible for Canadian investors.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or related field
  • Strong analytical, writing, and presentation skills with high attention to detail
  • Advanced financial modelling skills especially suited for alternatives / private markets / hedge fund research and analysis
  • Advanced skills in preparation of investment presentation materials
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment and work effectively across stakeholders
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills

Nice To Haves

  • Prior Capital Markets or Investment Banking experience (transaction support, diligence, financial modeling, investment analysis, or deal execution)
  • Exposure to alternatives/private markets (private equity, private credit, infrastructure, real assets, hedge funds, secondaries)
  • Experience reviewing legal, fund, and transaction documentation, and synthesizing third-party diligence reports
  • Experience supporting client materials and advisor-facing requests (DDQs/RFPs, presentations, talking points)

Responsibilities

  • Support sourcing and screening of new alternative investment opportunities and potential alternatives manager (prospective partners)
  • Conduct initial fit assessments (strategy, structure, liquidity, fees, scalability, alignment) and prepare concise summaries for internal review
  • Maintain pipeline tracking and competitor/peer comparisons
  • Due diligence to support new and existing investments and investment funds, including: Industry and thematic research, Alternatives manager assessment (platform, team, process, track record, operational considerations), Structure and portfolio risk analysis (terms, liquidity, fee mechanics, portfolio fit), Detailed financial model & documentation review
  • Coordinate inputs from internal teams and external advisors (legal, tax, structuring, etc.)
  • Support team in preparing IC-ready materials (investment summaries, diligence reports, recommendations)
  • Assist to articulate thesis, structure, key risks/mitigants, implementation considerations, and monitoring plan
  • Support presentation of recommendations
  • Support launch execution across internal and external stakeholders
  • Help manage deliverables, timelines, and governance steps required for successful product launches
  • Contribute to process improvements and consistent documentation/checklists
  • Support ongoing monitoring of existing partnerships/funds (performance, alignment to objectives)
  • Assist with periodic partner reviews and ad hoc analysis requests
  • Refresh and maintain client-facing materials (marketing decks, client aids)
  • Draft first versions of DDQs/RFPs and other diligence responses and help maintain a library of approved content for fast turnaround
