About The Position

The Senior Aircraft Component Repair Specialist will liaise with internal and external teams to process component orders related to repairs, overhauls, and exchanges. This role works closely with technical vendors to ensure these processes are accomplished in accordance with Transport Canada regulations. The position requires work in both an office environment and within a bonded stores/warehouse where safety footwear is required. Lifting and moving of aircraft components and tooling is required (up to 20%). This position is full-time in office, Monday to Friday. Based on operational needs, a shift schedule providing 7-day per week coverage may be implemented. This position is not eligible for remote work under our hybrid work policy.

Requirements

  • Demonstrates knowledge and experience of industry practices and understands the responsibilities associated with the position.
  • Working knowledge of Aircraft component MRO process and contracts.
  • Working knowledge of Aircraft component IPC, CMM, AMM etc.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and often high-pressure environment while maintaining composure and diplomacy.
  • A meticulous and detail-focused team player who possesses the ability to make decisions and work independently as the operation warrants.
  • Strong computer skills - MS Office.
  • Working knowledge of the TRAX/eMRO CMTS.
  • Understanding of contracting terms and conditions with the ability to use these to recover costs through available contract performance remedies.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working within an airline environment, particularly an aircraft technical operations environment is considered an asset – Aircraft and component repair, aircraft/component warranty, Aviation Insurance, Material etc.
  • Boeing Standard Warranty and PSAA programs/processes is considered an asset.
  • De Havilland of Canada Standard Warranty program/process is considered an asset.
  • Technical knowledge of aircraft systems and component repair is considered an asset.
  • Aircraft maintenance background (AME) considered an asset.
  • Understanding of aircraft maintenance program fundamentals as related to aircraft and component repair considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Process Aircraft and Component related Repair, Overhaul and Exchange orders.
  • Create Repair Orders (RO), Exchange Orders (EX) and Work Orders (WO) based on required scope per Transport Canada Approved Technical Data (AMM, SRM, CMM, SB, AD and other approved technical publications).
  • Ensure outsourced and internal component repairs are accomplished in accordance with the Transport Canada CAR’s regulations and the WestJet Maintenance Schedule Approval (MSA).
  • Source and participate in approval of Technical Vendors to ensure component repairs, overhaul and exchanges are accomplished per Transport Canada and Industry Leading Approved Vendors.
  • Ensure orders created for repairs/overhauls and exchanges are accomplished in accordance with contractual or expected pricing to ensure budget integrity.
  • Review and approve vendor quotes and invoicing up to an individual approval limit of $50,000 per quote.
  • Oversee vendor repair quotes and perform thorough due diligence to ensure all applicable warranties are honored. Scrutinize estimates to identify and negotiate down any overcharges, and proactively source more economically favorable repair alternatives without compromising quality and airworthiness standards.
  • Monitor the status of components in the repair cycle and proactively query to ensure parts are returned within the contracted turnaround times and available to support operational requirements.
  • Manage day-to-day compliance with aircraft part pooling agreements.
  • Request, process, and track core returns.
  • Monitor the clock on all removed components, ensure unserviceable parts are routed from line stations to vendors before contractual return time is exceeded.
  • Identify and action basic warranty recovery as required.
  • Take pictures as required to ensure integrity of warranty, insurance, cost recovery, and component repair process(s).
  • Build relationships with OEM’s and Vendor Representatives and work directly with them as required regarding component repair and overhaul.
  • Support Technical Operations (Tech Ops) Continuous Improvement Initiatives.
  • Develop a working knowledge of eMRO and the component repair process.
  • Complete all duties with the highest level of safety and report any condition or process which may adversely affect safety.
  • Team members may be assigned additional responsibilities such as Aircraft Warranty, Insurance & Claims processing during peak times and as required.
