Senior AI Platform Engineer
About The Position
This role oversees the design, implementation, and maintenance of robust, scalable AI software systems for HP commercial PCs. It collaborates with AI software developers, system administrators, project managers, and other stakeholders to create solutions that integrate with existing infrastructure and deliver value to end users. The role is responsible for software-system efficiency, reliability, and performance, and provides guidance on developing validation execution plans for new technologies. The position leads complex software-system design and development work, provides technical leadership across projects, and mentors less-experienced staff. It drives the integration of new technologies and supports quality and risk management throughout product and platform development.
Requirements
- A four-year or graduate degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline, or commensurate work experience or demonstrated competence.
- Typically 7–10 years of work experience, preferably in systems engineering, computer programming language, or a related field.
- Knowledge of AI workloads and inferencing, Agile methodology, APIs, C++, computer science, debugging, microservices, Microsoft Azure, Python, scalability, software development, software engineering, SQL, and Windows 11 internals.
- Effective communication, results orientation, learning agility, digital fluency, and customer centricity.
Nice To Haves
- Certified Software Systems Engineer (CSSE) certification.
- Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) certification.
Responsibilities
- Deliver AI-related system software to provide a strong customer experience.
- Oversee installation, configuration, testing, and maintenance of operating systems, AI application software, and system management tools.
- Monitor and test AI application performance, identify potential bottlenecks and solutions, and work with developers to implement fixes.
- Optimize software systems for performance, scalability, and resource efficiency.
- Gather infrastructure-component system engineering requirements in collaboration with engineering groups and other stakeholders.
- Lead multiple project teams of software systems engineers through design and development stages for complex products and platforms, including solution design, analysis, coding, testing, and integration.
- Manage and expand relationships with internal and outsourced development partners involved in software systems design and development.
- Review designs and project activities for compliance with systems design and development guidelines and standards, and provide feedback to improve product quality and mitigate failure risk.
- Provide domain-specific expertise and software systems leadership to cross-organization projects, programs, and activities.
- Drive innovation and integration of new technologies into projects and activities in the software systems design organization.
- Provide guidance and mentoring to less-experienced staff members.
- Guide team members in developing validation execution plans for new technologies.
