Senior AI-ML Integration Software Engineer
About The Position
TIAG is seeking a full-stack Senior AI/ML Software Engineer to join their team in support of a Department of War human performance platform product. This role requires a government security clearance, making US or Naturalized Citizenship a prerequisite. The Senior Engineer will utilize expertise in cloud-native solutions and modern web architectures to lead the integration of advanced AI and ML capabilities into the product suite. The ideal candidate will possess strong traditional software engineering skills, including experience with the PHP ecosystem, modern JavaScript frameworks, and CI/CD practices, alongside hands-on experience deploying generative AI models and intelligent orchestration workflows. The position primarily focuses on AI/ML integration and backend software development, with full-stack experience being a preference.
Requirements
- 8–10 years of professional software development experience.
- Frontend experience with React, React Native, Polymer, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3.
- Backend and Services proficiency in PHP 8.x (Symfony) and RESTful APIs, MySQL.
- Deep familiarity with AWS (EC2, RDS, S3, Lambda, API Gateway, Cognito, DynamoDB).
- Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools (Terraform).
- Experience with Git SCM and Jenkins CI.
- Familiarity and experience working in secure environments, particularly those constrained by federal and/or Department of War cybersecurity requirements.
- Demonstrated experience consuming, fine-tuning, or orchestrating Large Language Models (LLMs) within enterprise applications.
- US or Naturalized Citizenship (required for government security clearance processing).
Nice To Haves
- Knowledge of AWS Bedrock, specifically utilizing its API to manage foundation models, implement Guardrails, or build agents.
- Experience managing vector embeddings, prompt engineering, or working with cloud-native NoSQL data stores for AI context management.
- Full stack development experience is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Architect and deploy intelligent features using Cloud AI services, focusing on generative AI workflows, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and agentic pipelines.
- Develop serverless backends (e.g., AWS Lambda, API Gateway) and microservices that interface with foundational machine learning models.
- Optimize data ingestion pipelines and database queries (SQL and NoSQL) for AI context and inference.
- Set up, maintain, and secure automated CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins CI or similar cloud-native tooling for software and ML integrations.
- Define technical requirements, break down complex engineering tasks, and mentor junior developers.
- Consolidate legacy processes and automate critical workflows to reduce manual workloads and cycle times.
- Incorporate AI-driven features into user-facing web and mobile frontends.
- Integrate AI/ML capabilities into existing PHP backend APIs.
- Write and implement software tooling to develop a new build pipeline.
- Provide thought leadership on architecture, design, and modernization.
- Contribute to architecture decisions and long-term technical roadmaps.
- Organize work plans, estimate tasks, and deliver projects by deadlines.
