Senior AI Engineer

Meeru AI Inc•Pleasanton, CA

About The Position

Meeru AI is building an AI-native platform that connects to enterprise financial systems and uses machine learning to turn operational data into grounded, auditable intelligence for finance leaders. The platform supports SaaS multi-tenant, SaaS single-tenant, and on-premises deployments across AWS, Azure, and GCP, for customers requiring data isolation, auditability, and compliance. The Senior AI Engineer will build Meeru AI’s AI and intelligence layer, including customer-specific machine-learning models and grounded natural-language and agentic systems. Because the product operates alongside externally reported financials, outputs must be based on verified data and be traceable. The engineer will own significant parts of the layer end-to-end, work closely with the Staff AI Engineer and evaluation engineer, and build per-customer models while preventing data leakage. This is a hands-on production engineering role focused on turning designs into robust systems, rigorously measuring quality, and translating user feedback into durable improvements. The role offers a path toward staff-level technical ownership.

Nice To Haves

  • Finance or accounting domain experience, such as fintech, FP&A, ERP, audit, or financial close.
  • Feature-attribution experience, such as SHAP, and an understanding of its limits.
  • Experience with human-in-the-loop systems and feedback loops.
  • Hands-on experience with Bedrock, Vertex AI, or Azure OpenAI in VPC or private deployments.
  • Experience with zero-inflated or sparse-event modeling.

Responsibilities

  • Build per-customer machine-learning models for normal and anomalous behavior in time-series and operational data, using statistical baselines and gradient-boosted models such as LightGBM or XGBoost, with strict anti-leakage discipline.
  • Build a template-first natural-language generation layer grounded in verified data, using guardrails and structured output to prevent hallucinated or unsupported statements.
  • Implement agentic orchestration with verification and human-confirmation checkpoints, using LangGraph or an equivalent.
  • Integrate managed LLMs running inside customer clouds, including AWS Bedrock, GCP Vertex AI, and Azure OpenAI.
  • Partner with an evaluation engineer to gate grounding, hallucination, and faithfulness checks in CI.
  • Turn user feedback into durable model and system improvements.
  • Ship production Python services with SQL and warehouse access in containerized, customer-hosted deployments.
