About The Position

Analog Devices (ADI) is seeking an experienced U.S. lawyer to join their Legal & Risk Optimization Business Partner (LRO BP) team. This role will primarily support ADI’s Aerospace & Defense (ADEF) business unit and potentially other designated ADI business organizations. The position is based at ADI’s Corporate Headquarters in Wilmington, MA, reporting directly to ADI’s Regional General Counsel. The LRO BP will have primary responsibility for all legal matters impacting designated organizations, working in close partnership with other LRO experts and functions (e.g., compliance, trade, and IP). The role involves partnering closely with business leadership to implement strategies that support and drive the designated organizations’ strategic and growth objectives. This LRO BP will act as a legal advisor and strategic partner to business leadership in the United States, also supporting and coordinating international expansion and growth initiatives outside the U.S., including engagements with global aerospace and defense customers. The ideal candidate will combine deep commercial judgment, government contracting expertise, and executive presence, and be comfortable operating at the intersection of regulated defense markets, advanced technology, and international growth.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Person due to required access to U.S. export-controlled information or facilities
  • Juris Doctor from an accredited US law school and active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
  • At least 9 years of relevant legal experience focused on U.S. federal government contracting through a combination of law firm, in-house, or government experience.
  • Expertise in the FAR, DFARS, and key government contracting regulations and practices impacting technology companies supplying products and services to the U.S. aerospace and defense industry.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting government contracts across multiple phases of the lifecycle (proposal through performance and closeout).
  • Experience working on international or cross‑border matters, including coordinating with regional legal teams.
  • Executive presence and the ability to influence senior leaders in real time on complex legal, regulatory, and business tradeoffs.
  • Comfortable operating in a fast‑paced, matrixed global organization.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with international defense business is a plus.
  • Experience in the semiconductor industry a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the lead legal advisor to ADEF, shaping legal strategy on critical business, regulatory, and transactional matters in partnership with specialist counsel.
  • Apply deep knowledge of ADI’s technologies, customers, regulatory requirements, and growth priorities to influence strategic decisions across defense, aerospace, space, and secure communications markets.
  • Provide decisive, business-oriented legal counsel that enables speed while shaping risk tradeoffs in highly regulated environments.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and expert counsel to resolve issues quickly and efficiently.
  • Advise business unit and sales leaders on customer-facing legal and contract strategy, balancing customer priorities with ADI’s business, compliance, and risk objectives.
  • Lead negotiation strategy for complex commercial agreements, including long-term supply and development agreements, and government-adjacent and defense-industry customer contracts.
  • Serve as a senior legal authority on U.S. government contracting and flow down issues, including alignment with procurement, compliance, and security requirements (in coordination with subject matter experts).
  • Direct legal strategy for ADEF business expansion outside the United States, including Europe and other strategic regions, in coordination with regional ADI legal teams and outside counsel.
  • Design and drive scalable legal frameworks that enable repeatable global growth while maintaining compliance discipline under both U.S. and local regulation.
  • Lead legal guidance on compliance with the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), U.S. Government agency-specific FAR supplements (including the DFARS), and export controls, trade compliance, sanctions, data handling, security, and other regulatory obligations, working closely with ADI’s specialist teams in these areas.
  • Guide leadership on the legal and regulatory risks that matter most, and how to manage them proportionately.
  • Shape governance approaches that ensure ADEF activities align with ADI policies, codes of conduct, and enterprise risk frameworks.
  • Lead legal strategy for contract claims, equitable adjustments, and responses to prime contractor and Government dispute letters and inquiries.
  • Resolve disputes and emerging issues proactively to minimize disruption to customer relationships and business objectives.
  • Shape business partner standards, playbooks, and knowledge assets across the broader LRO Business Partner community.
  • Lead or influence cross-functional strategic initiatives aligned with ADI’s long-term strategy.
