About The Position

The Senior Advocacy Coordinator plays an important role in advancing the advocacy team’s work by providing operational and logistical support for in-district, state, and regional initiatives. This position also helps implement strategies that strengthen advocate capacity and expand overall impact. Working closely with internal partners across marketing, meetings services, facilities, and digital teams—as well as external vendors when needed—this role helps ensure advocacy efforts are coordinated, effective, and well executed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Administration, Communications, Political Science or related field
  • Minimum of 1 year’s administrative, professional, or customer service experience
  • Demonstrated ability to uphold the AAN’s values
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint or similar software
  • Demonstrated ability to use spreadsheet software applications to enter, compile, analyze, and retrieve data in a variety of reports
  • Excellent time management skills, and ability to deliver when facing multiple projects with tight deadlines
  • Demonstrated exceptional attention to detail, accuracy and recordkeeping
  • Ability to work with general supervision as well as actively contribute to project teams
  • Superior customer service skills through verbal and electronic correspondence
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with all internal and external stakeholders from diverse backgrounds at all levels of the organization

Nice To Haves

  • Project coordination or meeting management experience is preferred
  • Experience in advocacy, policy or civic engagement is preferred
  • Anticipates needed actions; plans and follows through with work activities; dependable and focused on getting things done to achieve goals is preferred
