About The Position

We are looking for a passionate and motivated professional to join the RTAL Sustainability team. You will be part of an open, collaborative global team working to advance the sustainability objectives of Rio Tinto Aluminium & Lithium. Reporting to the Atlantic Sustainability Manager, this role supports Aluminum assets across the Atlantic region in maintaining, updating, and implementing regulatory requirements and quantification processes for greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.

  • Knowledge of MS Office, Teams, and SharePoint tools.
  • Bilingual in French and English, both spoken and written — Rio Tinto is a global company, and this role requires regular collaboration with colleagues, teams, or partners based outside Quebec.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in audit management — considered a plus.
  • In-depth knowledge of one or more processes related to aluminium production (anode production, electrolysis, coke calcination, casting) - considered a plus
  • Knowledge of regulations and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions quantification methodologies - considered a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders to ensure site compliance with regulatory and corporate requirements related to greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
  • Perform GHG emissions quantification for each site and coordinate the external audits.
  • Train site personnel on GHG emissions quantification and main emission sources of their facilities.
  • Plan and conduct internal audits across all Aluminium sites in the Atlantic region.
  • Use designated procurement processes to contract third parties who perform external audits.
  • Track, analyze, and communicate the annual performance of sites in relation to climate change.
  • Identify, share, and document best practices implemented across sites.
  • Monitor applicable regulatory frameworks and analyze the impacts of their implementation to provide recommendations on adoption plans, including gap analyses and required actions.
  • Provide guidance and technical support on GHG matters to operational teams and commercial team.
