Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related area.
  • 6+ years of pertinent experience in occupational safety and wellness within the oil, gas, or petrochemical industries.
  • For candidates who do not possess a university degree, an additional 3-years of related experience is required (total of 9+ years).
  • Demonstrated experience developing and implementing safety management systems and programs, with familiarity in change management practices and North American Health & Safety legislation.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills, enabling effective partnership with internal and external collaborators at all levels.
  • Highly organized and adaptable, capable of working independently and collaboratively while managing uncertainty and learning quickly in dynamic environments.
  • Grasping and kneeling are required, along with lifting objects weighing up to 20 pounds.
  • The job involves reaching above the shoulder, repetitive motions, typing, sitting, and standing.
  • It also demands the ability to see screens, recognize color codes, read fine print, hear clearly, and remain seated at a computer for extended periods.
  • Ability to understand, remember, and apply oral or written instructions and other information.
  • Understand complex problems and explore alternative solutions collaboratively.
  • Coordinate thoughts and ideas into clear terms.
  • Prioritize and coordinate work schedules on a short-term basis.
  • Make decisions with moderate impact on the immediate work unit and observe effects beyond it.
  • Follow basic instructions and guidelines.
  • Complete routine forms, write letters, outlines, memoranda, and basic reports.
  • Communicate with individuals over the phone.
  • Moderate (40%) travel with the ability to travel and work throughout United States.
  • Valid passport may be required for future travel outside of the U.S.
  • A valid driver's license and maintenance of a responsible driving record is required which will be validated before hire.
  • Flexibility required to work extended hours when required to manage work priorities, accommodate field schedules and address stakeholder needs.
  • Flexibility to travel for extended periods (approx. 10 days) and work extended hours as required (infrequent) for emergency response support.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the country where the position is located without requiring sponsorship from Enbridge now or in the future.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or equivalent safety designation, with experience using contractor management systems (e.g., ISNetworld) and advanced proficiency in company tools, systems, databases, and communication technologies is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and mentor regional leaders and safety representatives to strengthen safety performance, accountability, and execution of safety priorities.
  • Partner with regional leadership teams to develop and implement safety communications, culture initiatives, and Safety Management Program enhancements.
  • Provide expert guidance on safety standards, regulatory compliance, audits, inspections, investigations, and corrective action plans across operations.
  • Serve as a trusted health and safety subject matter expert, collaborating with operations, support teams, and occupational hygiene groups to improve programs and outcomes.
  • Lead contractor safety engagement, field assessments, safety training delivery, and enhancements to training programs and employee capability.
  • Drive continuous improvement and operational reliability by leading problem-solving initiatives, work teams, and safety-focused performance improvements.
