Senior Advanced Atomic Physicist

Honeywell Aerospace•Redmond, WA
•$135,000 - $169,000•Hybrid

About The Position

As a Senior Advanced Atomic Physicist at Honeywell Aerospace, you will use your technical expertise to develop new products and drive technologies including atomic clocks, atomic RF sensors, and photonics. The role contributes to strategically important work in quantum and optical sensing and fills a critical role on an atomic clock development program. You will collaborate with scientists, engineers, customers, and partners to develop atomic sensor concepts and demonstrate them in practical devices, using rigorous analysis, engineering, and experimentation to address needs and requirements. The position supports numerical evaluation of product design, integration, qualification, and system performance for internal R&D and customer-funded programs. You will contribute to trade studies, issue resolution, design reviews, requirements analysis, technical documentation, proposals, simulations, data analysis, and testing. The role reports to the Director of Engineering and is based in Redmond, Washington. The schedule is Monday through Friday, hybrid, with three days in the office and two remote after 90 days.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as science, technology, engineering, or mathematics.
  • At least 6 years of R&D experience in AMO physics, especially atomic clocks.
  • Experience in technical leadership.
  • Experience working with internal and external customers.
  • Track record of solving difficult, complex problems through innovation, analysis, engineering, and experimentation.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, demonstrated through published research results and public presentations in the field.
  • Ability to work as part of a diverse team.
  • Experience with numerical data analysis, regression, and curve fitting.
  • Experience with Matlab, Creo, SolidWorks, and MathCAD.
  • Familiarity with Six Sigma methods.
  • Ability to influence cross-functional teams to deliver optimal solutions.
  • Ability to make timely decisions while balancing systematic analysis with decisiveness in an ambiguous environment.
