About The Position

Great American Employer Health Solutions is seeking a Senior Actuary for a fully remote position. This role involves designing, refining, and overseeing actuarial models for risk evaluation, pricing strategies, and profitability optimization. The position focuses on developing innovative product concepts, conducting advanced statistical analysis on large datasets, and authoring comprehensive actuarial reports. The Senior Actuary will communicate complex findings to diverse audiences, collaborate with various teams (underwriting, finance, product development, claims) to provide actuarial guidance, and lead or contribute to multi-disciplinary projects. Responsibilities also include identifying and implementing process improvements, representing the company on industry committees, and potentially managing and coaching staff. This is a highly technical role requiring expert analytical and communication skills, with a focus on innovation and serving as a key technical authority.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics or a related field.
• Generally, a minimum of 10 years of actuarial experience.
• Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) designation is expected.
• Works on assignments reflecting a high degree technical complexity and variety.
• Expert proficiency in various actuarial techniques.
• Demonstrates technical expertise and mastery in actuarial practices, including industry trends and product knowledge.
• Provides visionary leadership, fosters innovation, and serves as a key technical authority within the organization.
• Expert analytical skills with the ability to use data to inform decisions.
• Demonstrates excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment and across departments.
• Provides expert consultancy on changes in regulations, industry trends, and actuarial best practices.
• Provides technical advice and support to lower-level positions.
• Recognized as a subject matter expert in the field.
• This is the highest level of technical actuarial specialization and expertise.

Responsibilities

• Designs, refines, and oversees sophisticated actuarial models to evaluate risk, develop pricing strategies, and optimize profitability.
• Develops and assesses innovative product concepts with a focus on highly specialized, complex, and strategically significant initiatives.
• Conducts advanced statistical analysis on extensive datasets to uncover patterns, assess risk exposures, and generate actionable insights that drive strategic decision-making.
• Authors comprehensive actuarial reports, synthesizing complex analyses into actionable recommendations for stakeholders across the organization.
• Communicates intricate actuarial findings and advanced methodologies effectively to diverse audiences.
• Collaborates with underwriting, finance, product development, and claims teams to provide high-level actuarial guidance and support on strategic initiatives.
• Leads or contributes as a subject matter expert in multi-disciplinary projects to enhance operational efficiency, product offerings, and regulatory compliance.
• Responsible for identifying opportunities for process improvements and implementing changes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
• Represents the company on industry and professional committees.
• May have responsibility for performance and coaching of staff and may have a participatory role in decisions regarding talent selection, development, and performance management for direct reports.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
