Senior Accounting Process Consultant

LBMC Staffing Solutions•Memphis, TN

About The Position

A long-established Memphis-based distributor with 29 employees seeks an experienced Senior Accounting Process Consultant for a short-term engagement. This is a high-level assessment and advisory engagement, not a staff accounting position. The consultant will evaluate the company’s current accounting and finance processes and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, controls, and workflow. The work includes reviewing the current environment, meeting with stakeholders, assessing accounting workflows and system usage, and providing practical recommendations. The assessment will cover accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and timekeeping, month-end close, inventory accounting, sales tax processes across 17 states, systems and workflow, internal controls, and the organization of accounting responsibilities. The consultant will identify manual processes, bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and opportunities for standardization or automation. Deliverables include a practical current-state assessment; identification of risks, gaps, bottlenecks, and inefficiencies; recommendations for workflow, control, and procedure improvements; prioritized quick wins and longer-term improvements; recommendations for using QuickBooks Online, Stone Edge, and ADP effectively; guidance on documentation and standard operating procedures; and a leadership readout of findings and next steps. The company is located in Memphis, Tennessee. Some onsite presence is required to observe processes and meet stakeholders, though a primarily remote arrangement may be considered if the consultant can accommodate necessary onsite work. The consultant will work directly with company leadership and key accounting and process stakeholders.
