About The Position

Assists in overseeing the Business Office operations of payroll, accounts payable, child accounting and benefits, acting as a back-up as necessary. Supervises the Business Office staff and assists in the performance evaluation of the staff. Prepares financial statements and reports as required by the School Board, PA Department of Education and federal projects. Oversees the Food Service operations, including submission of yearly application into the program, filing of subsidy claims, and other aspects of the National School Lunch/Breakfast Program. Performs other duties as assigned by the Business Administrator.

Requirements

  • Three (3) years experience in a business office, preferably in public education
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Submission of pre-employment medical examination (Section 148 of the Pennsylvania School Code)
  • Submission of a report of criminal history record from the Pennsylvania State Police (Section 111 of the Pennsylvania School Code)
  • Non-residents and Pennsylvania residents who have not resided in the Commonwealth for at least two years prior to the date of application for employment are required to obtain an FBI Criminal History Record
  • Submission of a clearance report from the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare in accordance with Act 151 of 1994
  • Must possess leadership skills
  • Must possess computer skills
  • Ability to operate varied office equipment
  • Must have current Act 34, 151 & 114 Clearances

Responsibilities

  • Assists in overseeing the Business Office operations of payroll, accounts payable, child accounting and benefits, acting as a back-up as necessary.
  • Supervises the Business Office staff and assists in the performance evaluation of the staff.
  • Assists in the bi-weekly payroll process, including the monitoring of garnishments and voluntary withholdings, the payment of taxes, processing of payments and filing of all local, state and federal reports.
  • Performs responsibilities for the General Ledger, duties including but not limited to accounts receivable, invoicing, ledger posting, and treasurer’s report.
  • Prepares financial statements and reports as required by the School Board, PA Department of Education and federal projects.
  • Monitors federal program expenditures.
  • Maintains debt service schedules and wire debt payments; prepare state forms for reimbursement.
  • Processes all accounts receivable including state and federal subsidies.
  • Reconciles all district bank accounts.
  • Prepare and reconcile monthly retirement reports with PSERS.
  • Maintains tax collection records and serve as the district’s liaison with tax collectors.
  • Acts as District liaison with local, state and federal auditors.
  • Provides accounting services for the Pottsgrove Education Foundation.
  • Oversees the Food Service operations, including submission of yearly application into the program, filing of subsidy claims, and other aspects of the National School Lunch/Breakfast Program.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Business Administrator.
