About The Position

This role reports to the Director of Finance & Business Support and supports the Assistant Director of Finance in leading the Accounting/Finance department. The ideal candidate is a leader who enjoys building relationships with clients and their team, is detail-oriented, and thrives in an environment involving systems, people, and financials. This position involves developing others and working closely with many departments within an award-winning hotel. The Senior Accounting Manager is responsible for ensuring labor, compliance, month-end processes, and deadlines are met accurately and in a timely manner to support outstanding guest service and financial profitability for Swissôtel Chicago.

Requirements

  • Previous Accounting knowledge required
  • Previous leadership experience in an accounting role required
  • Experience in the hospitality industry or related field
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Windows applications or relevant computer applications required
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize responsibilities
  • Ability to maintain a clean and organized work environment

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of OPERA preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assist with monthly hotel reporting
  • Directly manage the Income Audit position and processes
  • Assist the Director of Finance & Assistant Director of Finance with audit compliance, improvements, and knowledge of Standard Operating Procedures to guide department heads and managers
  • Manage forecasting and budgeting activities and assist/train department leaders
  • Prepare monthly account reconciliations and credit card receipts tracking
  • Assist with the month-end close process, including journal entry preparation and analyzing financial information
  • Participate in periodic inventory procedures
  • Provide coverage for Payroll, A/P, General Cashier, and Income Audit
  • Track contracts and ensure compliance and timely renewal
  • Manage labor productivity report and weekly productivity meetings
  • Ensure financial records and transactions are maintained in compliance with GAAP and company policies and procedures
  • Ensure all financial reporting deadlines are met
  • Analyze business operations including revenue and expenditure trends, financial commitments, and internal process steps, and recommend new processes or solutions
  • Actively participate in departmental colleague engagement efforts
  • Follow all safety policies and maintain a safe work environment
  • Adhere to all hotel systems and internal controls
  • Follow departmental policies and procedures
  • Perform any other tasks that may be assigned
