Senior Accounting Manager, Core Revenue

Function HealthUS - Remote,

About The Position

Function Health is seeking a Senior Accounting Manager, Core Revenue to own the full revenue accounting lifecycle for the company's core revenue streams, including Direct To Consumer (DTC) memberships, imaging and scan services, and mobile diagnostic services. This role involves running month-end and quarter-end closes, managing a team, and building scalable systems and processes. The position requires close collaboration with data engineering, product, and operations teams to improve upstream data flows and drive automation. The Senior Accounting Manager will report to the Senior Director of Revenue Accounting & Operations and will have significant influence over the revenue accounting function, acting as a thought partner in a lean, high-autonomy team. The ideal candidate is curious, learns quickly, is meticulous, self-motivated, resourceful, and thrives in a fast-paced, high-growth environment, motivated by building something meaningful from the ground up.

Requirements

  • 8-12+ years of progressive experience in revenue accounting, including significant ownership of multi-stream month-end close and reporting; Big 4 public accounting experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong close management experience — owning the calendar, coaching your team through issues, clearing blockers, and delivering on time across multiple revenue streams.
  • Track record of identifying data quality issues at the root cause in nascent or evolving data environments, and partnering with product, engineering, and data teams to fix them — not just reconciling around problems.
  • Strong communicator and thought partner — you explain complex accounting issues to non-finance stakeholders, surface risks proactively, and bring a point of view rather than just executing.
  • Comfortable leading in ambiguity — building processes and controls while running them, in an environment where new revenue streams, acquisitions, and product launches are constant.
  • People management experience — you have hired, managed, and developed accountants. You know how to build a team, not just inherit one.
  • Familiarity with ASC 606 revenue recognition, applied to subscription and service-based revenue models — including multiple performance obligations, variable consideration, and bundled offerings.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with payment platform revenue data (transaction classification, settlement reconciliation) or exposure to subscription-based/health-tech businesses.
  • Experience scoping ERP/rev rec system integrations (e.g., Rillet, NetSuite, Zuora) as the accounting owner, plus comfort with SQL or other data querying tools to investigate transaction-level data directly.
  • Hands-on use of AI or automation tools (Claude, ChatGPT, advanced Excel/Sheets, scripting) in accounting workflows, or a strong point of view on how they should be applied.

Responsibilities

  • Own core revenue streams end to end, including the monthly and quarterly close for DTC memberships, imaging and scan services, and mobile diagnostic services — setting the close calendar, sequencing tasks, managing quality, and ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Build and refine the close process for each stream — standing up frameworks for newly acquired services, improving workflows for established ones, and designing each to run through systems rather than manual effort.
  • Identify and investigate data quality issues across revenue systems, and partner with data engineering and product teams to fix them at the root cause and drive automation, including our Rillet rollout — scoping integrations, defining requirements, and building scalable workflows that reduce manual touchpoints and hold up as new streams come online.
  • Manage and grow a team of Senior Accountants — building, onboarding, and developing your direct reports while transitioning work from interim contractors and outsourced resources.
  • Lead revenue reporting and analysis, including deferred revenue schedules, revenue flux analyses, and close reporting for leadership and audit.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for external audit (KPMG) on revenue matters within your streams — preparing support, presenting methodology, and addressing questions with technical depth and confidence.
  • Design and maintain internal controls, SOPs, and process documentation that support SOX-readiness and ensure your streams can be closed consistently as the team and business scale.

Benefits

  • competitive salary and benefits package
  • flexible working hours
