About The Position

The Houston-Galveston Area Council (H-GAC) is seeking a Senior Accounting & Finance Coordinator to ensure compliance with federal funding regulations, specifically 2 CFR 200, for the Transportation Department's contract invoices. This role involves researching regulations, monitoring compliance, providing guidance on audits and assessments, and maintaining tracking systems. The coordinator will also ensure contract compliance for program and project managers, manage sensitive financial information, and perform other assigned duties. The position requires strong organizational, communication, and technical skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively under pressure.

Requirements

  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks, follow through on commitments, and meet deadlines
  • Proficient in Microsoft office applications, particularly in Excel, SharePoint and Adobe to edit functions for task tracking and communicating with external funders
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure, under tight deadlines and manage conflicting priorities
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and coordinate effectively across functional areas
  • Bachelor’s degree in an applicable academic discipline or related field of study
  • 5 years of experience working with local government, nonprofit programs, school or in job related duties

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for Transportation Department contract invoice documentation compliance with 2 CFR 200 and other federal funding regulations
  • Works under minimal supervision with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgement.
  • Research applicable regulations, policies, grant requirements, and procedures
  • Monitor compliance with federal, state, local, contractual and organization requirements
  • Provide guidance and assist with internal monitoring, audits, reviews and external compliance assessments
  • Ensure contract compliance, assisting program managers and project managers with contract needs, reporting and invoice compliance
  • Maintain tracking spreadsheets and databases related to compliance activities
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive organizational and financial information
  • Perform other duties as assigned
