About The Position

Cherry Bekaert Recruiting & Staffing is seeking an experienced Senior Accounting Consultant for a remote contract consulting opportunity supporting a corporate, private equity-backed organization. The role is suited to a hands-on accounting professional who can quickly join an established finance team, take ownership of key accounting functions, and support accurate, timely financial reporting. Compensation is $50–$100 per hour, depending on experience.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Progressive accounting experience within a corporate environment.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting.
• Demonstrated experience with month-end close, general ledger accounting, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
• Experience supporting audits and maintaining effective internal controls.
• Strong Microsoft Excel and ERP/accounting system skills.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize competing deadlines, and effectively partner with cross-functional stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

• Experience within a private equity-backed, high-growth, or evolving corporate environment.
• CPA and/or public accounting experience.
• Experience with ERP implementations, M&A integration, or finance transformation initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
• Prepare and review journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, and supporting schedules.
• Assist with the preparation and analysis of financial statements and management reporting.
• Research and resolve complex accounting and general ledger matters.
• Support external audit requests and prepare audit schedules.
• Maintain and strengthen accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting, and close efficiency.
• Partner with finance leadership on accounting initiatives and special projects.
• Support system implementations, integrations, accounting cleanup, and process improvement initiatives as needed.
