About The Position

Cherry Bekaert Recruiting & Staffing is seeking an experienced Senior Accounting Consultant to support a corporate, private equity-backed organization. This remote contract consulting opportunity is suited to a hands-on accounting professional who can integrate quickly into an established finance team, take ownership of key accounting functions, and support accurate, timely financial reporting. The consultant may also support system implementations, integrations, accounting cleanup, and process-improvement initiatives as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Progressive accounting experience within a corporate environment.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting.
• Demonstrated experience with month-end close, general ledger accounting, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
• Experience supporting audits and maintaining effective internal controls.
• Strong Microsoft Excel and ERP/accounting system skills.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize competing deadlines, and effectively partner with cross-functional stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

• Experience within a private equity-backed, high-growth, or evolving corporate environment.
• CPA and/or public accounting experience.
• Experience with ERP implementations, M&A integration, or finance transformation initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
• Prepare and review journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, and supporting schedules.
• Assist with preparing and analyzing financial statements and management reporting.
• Research and resolve complex accounting and general ledger matters.
• Support external audit requests and prepare audit schedules.
• Maintain and strengthen accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting, and close efficiency.
• Partner with finance leadership on accounting initiatives and special projects.
• Support system implementations, integrations, accounting cleanup, and process-improvement initiatives as needed.
