About The Position

A mission-driven nonprofit financial services organization is seeking a Senior Accountant to support affordable housing initiatives. This full-time position, based in Atlanta, Georgia, involves managing core accounting operations, financial reporting, budgeting, compliance support, and system enhancements. The role requires close collaboration with executive leadership and offers an immediate start. The primary goal is to ensure financial accuracy, compliance, and scalable processes that support organizational growth and community impact within a professional, team-oriented nonprofit environment.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Strong experience in nonprofit or financial services accounting preferred.
• Proficiency in QuickBooks Online and advanced Excel skills required.
• Experience with budgeting, financial reporting, and audit support.
• Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and internal controls.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a mission-driven environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day accounting operations in QuickBooks Online, including general ledger, reconciliations, and journal entries.
• Ensure accurate and timely month-end and year-end close processes.
• Support transition from QuickBooks to a future ERP system.
• Prepare monthly financial statements and budget-to-actual reports.
• Develop dashboards, board reports, and financial analyses.
• Coordinate annual audit preparation and support external auditors.
• Lead development of the annual organizational budget.
• Monitor and analyze budget variances throughout the year.
• Prepare investor compliance reports and ensure accurate submissions.
• Support regulatory and CDFI-related compliance requirements.
• Maintain strong documentation standards and internal controls.
• Utilize advanced Excel skills to develop financial models and analysis tools.
• Maintain data integrity and improve reporting processes.
• Support ERP implementation and system migration initiatives.
