About The Position

The Senior Accountant plays a key leadership role within the Finance Department, responsible for ensuring the creation and maintenance of accurate, timely financial records for the organization. The position involves financial analysis, reviewing accounting records, and collaborating with senior finance leadership to develop and implement fiscal strategies. The Senior Accountant will maintain strong systems and controls to ensure the integrity of financial data and compliance with regulatory standards, while also supporting special financial projects as needed.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required, or equivalent number of years of experience plus five (5) years of accounting experience.
Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required for client meetings and events.
Valid AZ driver’s license, provide a 39-month satisfactory MVR report.
Obtain a Tribal operator driving permit at the time of hire.
A satisfactory result obtained through a test for illegal drugs.
Acknowledge and agree to maintain a drug-free workplace.

Nice To Haves

Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certificate.
Proven experience in financial management, with a solid understanding of financial analysis, budgeting, and fiscal strategy.
Strong technical capacity with proficiency in using accounting software, spreadsheets, and word processing programs at an advanced level.

Responsibilities

Financial Analysis & Reporting:
Analyze accounting records, including financial statements and other reports, to ensure accuracy, completeness, and conformance to departmental standards.
Review and reconcile account records to verify accuracy and compliance with accounting principles.
Participate in special projects and compile special financial reports as required by senior leadership.
Collaboration & Fiscal Strategy:
Collaborate with the Director of Finance, Controller, and/or Accounting Manager to develop appropriate fiscal strategies for the organization.
Provide accurate and timely responses to the Director of Finance and Controller to meet organizational financial needs.
Systems & Process Improvement:
Establish and maintain financial systems and controls to verify the integrity of all financial processes, data, and records, enhancing organizational value.
Create and maintain forms and manuals for accounting and bookkeeping staff to ensure consistent processes.
Compliance & Communication:
Communicate with co-workers, management, clients, and others in a professional, courteous manner.
Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, policies, and work procedures.
Supervisor Responsibility:
Oversees the supervision of personnel, which includes hiring, work allocation, training, problem resolution; evaluates performance and makes recommendations for personnel actions; motivates employees to achieve peak productivity and performance; provides guidance and feedback for assigned staff.
