About The Position

The Senior Accountant manages the full cycle of accounting, delivers accurate and compliant financial reporting, and provides critical insights into operational and production costs within a heavy manufacturing or mining environment. This role plays a key part in supporting a growing organization by strengthening financial processes, optimizing cost structures, and partnering closely with site leadership to drive operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field.
  • 3–7+ years of general ledger (GL) accounting experience.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and its application to financial reporting in a manufacturing or mining context.
  • Hands-on experience with cost accounting, including production cost analysis and standard costing.
  • Experience managing and accounting for fixed assets, including maintaining a fixed asset register.
  • Proficiency in inventory valuation methods such as FIFO, weighted average, and standard cost.
  • Strong Excel skills, including use of VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, and other advanced functions for data analysis.
  • Experience working with a major ERP system, preferably SAP Business One.
  • Ability to perform accurate account reconciliations for key balance sheet accounts.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage month-end close processes and produce timely financial statements.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and provide meaningful insights to operations.
  • Ability to support and maintain internal controls and prepare documentation for audits.

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years of experience in heavy manufacturing, natural resources, or mining industry is highly preferred.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is preferred.
  • Direct experience with SAP Business One is a strong plus.
  • Ability to clearly explain month-end processes and collaborate with stakeholders during close activities.
  • Comfort working in a dynamic, growth-oriented environment backed by private equity.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to partner effectively with site leadership and cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Produce accurate and timely financial statements, including Profit and Loss, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow, in accordance with U.S. GAAP and internal policies.
  • Manage the full cycle of accounting, including general ledger activities and month-end close processes.
  • Analyze actual results versus budget and forecast, with particular focus on mining production costs, equipment utilization, and recovery rates.
  • Partner with site leadership and operational teams to support efficiency initiatives, cost control measures, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Serve as the primary administrator for the ERP system (SAP Business One), ensuring data integrity and supporting users as needed.
  • Prepare and review reconciliations for key balance sheet accounts, including cash, inventories, asset retirement obligations, and fixed assets.
  • Support and maintain a strong internal control environment that aligns with corporate and regulatory standards.
  • Prepare audit schedules and provide detailed documentation and explanations to internal and external auditors.
  • Monitor and analyze production costs, standard costing, and work-in-progress (WIP) balances to ensure accurate valuation and reporting.
  • Apply and maintain appropriate inventory valuation methods such as FIFO, weighted average, and standard cost.
  • Utilize advanced Excel functions, such as VLOOKUPs and pivot tables, to analyze financial data and prepare management reports.
  • Collaborate with the Finance team to continuously improve accounting processes, reporting quality, and operational transparency.
