About The Position

The Senior Accountant supports a variety of mid-level accounting duties, including day-to-day activities and long-term projects. The role performs recurring accounting and close activities, supports budgets and reporting, assists with audits and financial analysis, and helps ensure compliance with JSOX controls. The position may require extended hours and occasional weekends to meet month-end or audit deadlines.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related degree with accounting experience.
• Knowledge of GAAP financial reporting.
• Strong communication skills.
• Proficiency in Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
• Strong organizational and analytical skills.
• Self-starter with a strong work ethic.
• Demonstrated technical accounting skills, including researching accounting guidance, evaluating transactions, and documenting conclusions.
• Team player who is flexible.
• Availability to work extended hours and potentially weekends as needed to meet month-end or audit deadlines.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in the construction materials industry.
• Experience with SAP.

Responsibilities

• Prepare recurring monthly, quarterly, and year-end journal entries.
• Reconcile general ledger accounts, investigate discrepancies, and ensure timely resolution of outstanding items.
• Coordinate support and prepare necessary manual journal entries on behalf of corporate departments.
• Complete assigned duties according to the month-end close schedule.
• Prepare and maintain amortization schedules.
• Prepare annual budgets for assigned corporate-designated operating expenses.
• Prepare ad hoc reports and analysis for management and operations.
• Prepare audit schedules and fulfill requests from external auditors during quarterly and year-end audits.
• Execute controls to ensure compliance with JSOX.
• Demonstrate leadership and provide support to members of the accounting team as needed.
• Assist with management reporting, financial analysis, and preparation of schedules supporting financial statements.
