About The Position

The Senior Accountant plays a key role in managing and optimizing Tilled’s financial operations, with a focus on reconciliations, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable and compliance. This role is responsible for ensuring accuracy across financial processes, supporting month-end close, year-end audit, tax filing, and building scalable systems and controls as the business grows. The Senior Accountant works cross-functionally with internal teams to monitor transactions, improve financial reporting, and maintain compliance across multiple states. This role will also help establish and refine processes, ensuring the integrity and efficiency of Tilled’s financial operations.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in accounting or finance
  • Strong understanding of GAAP principles
  • Experience with accounts payable, reconciliations, and financial reporting
  • Proficiency in Excel and accounting systems (e.g., QuickBooks or similar)
  • Experience managing or supporting payroll processes
  • Ability to analyze financial data and identify discrepancies or trends
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate cross-functionally
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in fintech, payments, or PayFac environments
  • Experience working with complex transaction flows or high-volume reconciliations
  • Familiarity with multi-state tax compliance and registrations
  • Experience building or improving accounting processes and internal controls
  • Experience supporting audits or working with external auditors
  • Experience with Bill.com and Expensify

Responsibilities

  • Managing and supporting the month-end close process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
  • Processing and monitoring state taxes, including registrations and ongoing compliance (sales, income, etc.)
  • Administering payroll and supporting payroll-related processes and compliance
  • Monitoring and managing state-run programs impacting payroll (e.g., Colorado SecureSavings)
  • Collaborating with internal teams responsible for payouts and transaction flows
  • Building and improving processes related to reconciliation, reporting, and financial operations
  • Establishing and maintaining internal controls to protect company assets
  • Analyzing financial data to provide insights into transaction performance and trends
  • Supporting the development of policies, procedures, and reporting systems to improve efficiency and accuracy
  • Working on complex issues that require evaluation of multiple variables and sound judgment
  • Becoming an expert in Tilled’s payment flows, products, and financial operations
  • Assisting with ad hoc financial analysis and operational initiatives as needed
