About The Position

The Senior Accountant will serve as the lead position for the accounting department and will be relied on to provide accounting guidance to the Staff Accountant.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field preferred, or an equivalent of education and experience.
• Must have strong accounting and analytical skills, and technical ability in financial information systems.
• Strong proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel & Outlook).
• Must have excellent and clear communication skills with ability to move from one task to another swiftly and efficiently.
• Professionalism, tact and diplomacy are essential elements of the job. Must be able to collaborate. Social Skills. Problem solving.
• Satisfactory Background check and drug testing are conditions of employment.

Nice To Haves

• Previous Credit Union experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Maintains the Credit Union's accounting records and reports, ensuring that they are in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
• Completes related daily, weekly, and monthly journal entries and balancing.
• Reconciles GL and bank accounts in a timely manner. Ensures that reports, accounts, systems, policies and practices adhere to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
• Executes month-end responsibilities by the assigned due date, including journal entries, accrual postings, including fixed assets, and prepaid expense processing.
• Participates in external and internal audits that rely on accounting support, documentation and reports.
• Performs a variety of support duties related to the accounting function as assigned.
