About The Position
Michael & Son Services is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its Raleigh, North Carolina team. The role supports financial operations by ensuring accurate accounting processes and compliance with company policies. The Senior Accountant will own key accounting processes, improve team workflows, and serve as a resource for the accounting department. The position is in office.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- Five to seven years of progressive accounting experience.
- Strong experience with month-end closing procedures.
- Strong Excel skills.
- Takes ownership, identifies root causes, and looks for ways to improve processes.
- Can explain accounting concepts clearly and help others improve.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with Sage Intacct.
- Experience with Service Titan.
- Lease accounting experience.
- Revenue recognition experience.
- Experience in MEP, construction, or the trades.
Responsibilities
- Own and improve the month-end close process to ensure it is accurate, consistent, and timely.
- Own account reconciliations and establish clear, standardized procedures.
- Prepare and review journal entries and financial reports.
- Analyze variances and investigate their causes.
- Coach and support other members of the accounting team.
- Identify and resolve process problems.
- Support audits, tax work, system improvements, and other accounting projects.
