About The Position

Morgan Advanced Materials is seeking a Senior Accountant for a 9-month contract position. This role is hands-on and offers broad exposure across the finance function, focusing on supporting operational decisions with accurate and meaningful financial data. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical accounting background, manufacturing finance experience, and a practical approach to problem-solving and process improvement. The position involves owning key general ledger areas, supporting month-end close, managing inventory accounting, and providing analysis for leadership decision-making.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 5+ years of accounting experience, including at least 2 years within a manufacturing environment
  • Strong understanding of cost accounting, inventory valuation, and manufacturing operations
  • Experience working with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, D365, or similar
  • Advanced Excel skills, with Power Query knowledge being an advantage
  • Solid understanding of GAAP and/or IFRS
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Comfortable working independently while collaborating across multiple teams
  • Clear communicator who can explain financial information without turning it into an accounting textbook
  • Must be a Citizen of the United States, or Permanent resident alien of the United States, or Protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C.1324b(a)(3) (22 CFR §120.15.)

Nice To Haves

  • CPA or CMA qualification preferred
  • Experience with BlackLine or FloQast would be a bonus

Responsibilities

  • Run month-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations
  • Report monthly financial results through SAP Business Consolidation or similar reporting tools
  • Maintain the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger
  • Prepare monthly financial reports, KPI dashboards, and presentations for site leadership
  • Manage inventory accounting activities, including cycle counts, reconciliations, and reserve calculations
  • Support fixed asset accounting and capital project tracking
  • Investigate inventory, balance sheet, and operating variances, providing clear analysis and explanations
  • Prepare financial statements, supporting schedules, and audit documentation
  • Help maintain compliance with internal controls, SOX requirements, and accounting policies
  • Partner with operations and supply chain teams to improve performance and drive better financial outcomes
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes and automate routine finance activities
