Senior Accountant

Vessel Technologies•New York, NY

About The Position

Vessel is hiring a Senior Accountant to ensure the completeness and accuracy of transactions across its entities. The company’s accounting systems are largely automated: Ramp captures and syncs bills and card transactions into NetSuite, and bank feeds flow into NetSuite daily. The Senior Accountant will match transactions, clear exceptions, and maintain reconciled, review-ready balance sheet accounts. The role reports to the Controller, who owns the close calendar, period-end entries, and financial reporting. The Senior Accountant is responsible for the accuracy of underlying transactions and reconciliations. The position also supports inventory and cost accounting, intercompany activity, customer billing, and improvements to recurring accounting processes.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of accounting experience and a track record of working independently; multi-entity experience is preferred.
  • Hands-on, day-to-day NetSuite experience, including bank feeds, matching, and reconciliations.
  • Experience with Ramp or a similar spend platform.
  • Solid accrual accounting and US GAAP fundamentals, including intercompany accounting.
  • Strong Excel skills.
  • Accuracy, reliability in meeting deadlines, and an inclination to fix recurring process issues rather than repeatedly redo entries.

Nice To Haves

  • Multi-entity accounting experience.
  • Manufacturing, inventory, or cost accounting experience.

Responsibilities

  • Match NetSuite bank-feed and card transactions for every entity at least weekly, and record transactions surfaced by feeds that have not already been booked, including bank fees, intercompany transfers, loan payments, and manual payments.
  • Spot-check Ramp coding for entity, department, GL, and project; correct errors before syncing; clear unsynced or failed items; and reconcile Ramp AP and card balances to NetSuite monthly.
  • Record each biweekly payroll in NetSuite by entity and department from the Controller’s summary payroll journal, separate direct production labor from overhead, and tie payroll to the cash debit.
  • Maintain accurate raw materials, work-in-process, and finished goods balances in NetSuite; support physical and cycle counts; and track production costs for materials, labor, and overhead.
  • Record intercompany transfers on both sides and ensure balances agree between entities each month.
  • Reconcile cash, card, AP, intercompany, prepaids, inventory, fixed assets, and debt monthly, with supporting documentation, and deliver the reconciliation package to the Controller by the close deadline.
  • Invoice customers at milestones and track collections.
  • Propose and implement rules to prevent recurring accounting corrections, such as Ramp rules, NetSuite matching rules, and saved searches.
