About The Position
The Senior Accountant position is a high performing accounting professional who thrives in a fast-paced setting, demonstrates strong technical expertise and proactively drives improvements in the reporting processes. Qualified candidates will be self-starters with a strong execution mindset.
Requirements
- 3-5 years public accounting or other qualifying experience with experience working in mid to large sized companies
- Experience can be either as an auditor or in-house accountant
- Accounting degree
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel and have a strong knowledge of other Microsoft Office applications
- Must have strong communications skills, both written and oral, as the position works closely with parent company accounting staff, outside vendors and regulatory authorities
- Familiarity with larger general ledger systems.
- Adaptability, flexibility and ability to work as part of a team or in an individual capacity
Nice To Haves
- CPA is a plus
- Prefer financial reporting experience with SEC reports or similar regulatory filings where the intensity of quarterly and annual filing deadlines are understood
- Any insurance accounting and reporting experience preferred
- Life insurance accounting and reporting experience highly preferred
- Infor is a plus
Responsibilities
- Assists in the preparation of U.S. GAAP and Statutory financial statements and disclosures
- Prepare general ledger journal entries and reconcile the more complicated general ledger accounts
- Prepare schedules and exhibits for the life insurance quarterly and annual statement filings
- Assist internal and external auditors with annual audit
- Undertake ad hoc activities assigned by the Director of Accounting and Finance
