About The Position

The Senior Accountant provides support to the CFO and assists in the training of the other members of the Accounting Department. S/he is responsible for the performance of accounting functions related to accounts receivable, general ledger account reconciliation and the preparation of related financial reports. S/he must have the ability to convey a positive and professional image to clients, staff and visitors and must be able to maintain client confidentiality. S/he must be computer literate and possess good organizational and analytical skills. S/he must be able to perform duties involving light lifting, and possess an ability to sit for long periods of time.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in accounting with experience as accountant/bookkeeper.
  • Experience with a variety of computer software

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or business administration desirable.
  • Experience in social service/nonprofit organization is preferable.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly program and grant billings for RS EDEN programs.
  • Maintain open aged receivables report and other A/R reports as needed.
  • Maintain accounts receivable for client rent at supportive housing programs.
  • Maintain list of client security deposits from supportive housing and reconcile with G/L.
  • Work with customers to resolve problems with outstanding accounts receivable.
  • Communicate with program managers regarding billing accuracy and customer information.
  • Reconcile outstanding accounts receivable detail with general ledger account.
  • Reconcile operating bank account to the general ledger.
  • Discuss any adjusting items with the CFO.
  • Work with bank as necessary to resolve questions.
  • Input fixed assets into FAS software and reconcile reports to the general ledger on at least a quarterly basis.
  • Review all assets for accuracy and completeness.
  • Check system calculation of depreciation expense for accuracy.
  • Assist with other general ledger reconciliation and preparation of schedules as needed.
  • Assist with audit preparation for RS EDEN and housing limited partnerships as needed.
  • Assist in documenting and updating of accounting process and internal control procedures to maintain accounting procedure manual.
  • Coordinate retention of records required monthly and at year-end.
  • Prepare records for long-term storage.
  • Assist CFO with other projects as needed.
  • Maintain and promote a positive, safe, harmonious, and productive work environment.
  • Safeguard personally identifiable health information (PHI) in accordance with duties and current agency HIPAA notification statement and standards.
