We are seeking a Financial Reporting Accountant to support statutory reporting, regulatory filings, and core accounting operations across our insurance products. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or equivalent experience
  • 3–5 years of accounting experience in insurance, financial services, or public accounting
  • Demonstrates experience with reconciliations, and regulatory reports
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word, and experience with general ledger
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of the insurance industry is helpful. Coursework toward professional designation (CPA, CMA, MBA, FLMI) preferred
  • Working knowledge of reporting systems such as Blackline, Workday, Tritech, and FSI is preferred
  • High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Strong understanding of regulatory environments and compliance requirements
  • Ability to identify discrepancies and proactively resolve issues
  • Motivation to improve processes and strengthen internal controls
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams

Responsibilities

  • Review general ledger trial balances and ensure accounts are in balance through reconciliations and supporting documentation
  • Prepare and review workpapers, reconciliations, trial balances, and adjusting entries required for financial reporting
  • Verify accuracy of financial data received from internal departments, investment managers, and custodians
  • Assist Internal Audit by preparing schedules and workpapers for external auditors and state examiners
  • Reconcile asset, liability, income, and expense accounts and resolve discrepancies
  • Partner with internal teams to address recurring reporting or system-related issues
  • Ensure timely completion of all reconciliations and correcting entries
  • Prepare and process premium tax filings across all 50 states for multiple entities, including annual returns, estimated payments, and monthly accruals
  • Manage unclaimed property (escheat) processes, including semi-annual filings, due diligence notifications, and coordination with policyholders and businesses prior to remittance
  • Ensure accuracy in regulatory reporting by reconciling systems and general ledger activity to prevent duplicate reporting or payments
  • Stay current on changes in regulatory and tax requirements and ensure compliance
  • Maintain fixed asset accounting, including tracking additions, disposals, and depreciation schedules
  • Run scheduled reporting and ensure accurate recording of asset activity
