About The Position

Instrumentum is hiring a Senior Accountant for our Long Beach, CA headquarters. This role offers a unique opportunity to report directly to the CFO, bypassing a traditional Controller layer. You will own the general ledger and close process across all of Instrumentum's facilities, making critical judgment calls and enjoying significant autonomy. The pace is real, and so is the opportunity to make a direct impact on leadership's decision-making.

Requirements

  • 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience
  • 2-3 years of hands-on experience with Sage Intacct
  • Experience with multi-entity and multi-state accounting operations
  • Experience with multi-state tax and regulatory filings
  • Experience owning a full close cycle with limited oversight
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • CPA license — active or lapsed in good standing both qualify

Nice To Haves

  • Healthcare services, medical device, or regulated-industry experience
  • Experience reporting directly to a CFO or VP of Finance, without a Controller layer in between
  • ERP experience beyond Sage Intacct — NetSuite, Workday, or similar

Responsibilities

  • Own the general ledger across all entities and facilities: journal entries, accruals, intercompany transactions, and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close in Sage Intacct, deciding close priorities and resolving reconciling items yourself
  • Prepare financial statements and reporting packages directly for the CFO, including variance analysis
  • Own multi-state tax and regulatory filings — sales and use tax, payroll tax registrations, business licenses, and franchise filings — across our operating states
  • Monitor multi-state nexus and registration requirements as our facilities and operations grow
  • Serve as our senior functional resource for Sage Intacct, including reporting, dimensions, and close configuration
  • Use advanced Excel, including pivot tables, to analyze large transaction datasets
  • Maintain documentation that holds up to external review
  • Support our external accountants and tax advisors
  • Recommend and implement process and controls improvements
  • Mentor accounting staff on technical questions
