The Senior Accountant is responsible for the day-to-day accounting, preparing supporting reconciliation schedules such as prepaids, accruals, bank reconciliations, and fixed asset schedules. The Senior Accountant will liaise closely with other departments. The Senior Accountant reports to the Accounting Manager and performs essential duties in the Finance department.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related business field.
  • 5 years of work experience, with a strong understanding of GAAP.
  • Knowledge of principles and facts related to business administration and accounting, human and material resource management in organizations, sales and marketing, economics, and office information and organizing systems.
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Knowledge of using mathematics to solve problems.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to remain attentive to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred.
  • Previous work experience in a manufacturing or related environment preferred.
  • Public Accounting experience preferred.
  • Experience with an ERP system, preferably NetSuite

Responsibilities

  • Support the month-end and year-end close process to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
  • Prepare monthly balance sheets and income statements in compliance with GAAP.
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts, analyzing data to ensure entries are complete and accurate.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and regulations, including tax and regulatory filings.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing and human resources, to support business objectives.
  • Prepare financial analysis to support business decision-making.
  • Provide ad-hoc analysis as required.
  • Perform bank reconciliations by examining bank statements and reconciling with general ledger entries in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Review capital projects to ensure accurate accounting and reporting.
  • Maintain accurate lease accounting records.
  • Complete various accounting tasks at the end of the month, such as posting journal entries, running depreciation, reconciling fixed asset schedules, recording intercompany journal entries, reconciling prepaid schedules, preparing accrual schedules, running financial reports, and preparing other account reconciliations as required.
  • Provide support to external auditors and tax consultants as requested.
  • Identify and recommend process improvements to increase efficiency and effectiveness of accounting operations as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
