About The Position

The Senior Accountant prepares financial statements and reports, verifies financial transactions and records, supports leaders with financial analysis and budgeting, provides audit and regulatory reporting support. This role is responsible for complex accounting transactions and the oversight of key accounting cycles, such as payroll, expense management, and revenue. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for training staff and monitoring the accuracy of work performed by accounting staff.

Requirements

  • Must possess initiative and a desire for continuous improvement.
  • In-depth knowledge of GAAP accounting.
  • Working knowledge of the primary financial statements and their interdependencies.
  • Must be able to perform analysis and create deliverables from general direction.
  • The ability to produce accurate and timely work.
  • The ability to analyze financial data and present the results in a clear and concise format
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Excel, including formula writing and creating pivot tables.
  • Skill with accounting software.
  • The ability to accurately communicate with co-workers and vendors about billing and accounting information.
  • The ability to review invoices and other financial documents in addition to clinical case documentation.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of 4 years accounting and/or finance work experience required.
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination or applicable medical or religious exemption will be required as a condition of employment upon offer.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA preferred
  • Previous experience in payroll oversight, including knowledge of multi-state payroll setup and other complex payroll regulations, preferred.
  • Previous experience in healthcare accounting preferred

Responsibilities

  • Supports department leadership in overseeing assigned accounting processes. This includes maintenance of underlying records, review of transactions, coordinating periodic team check-ins, performing financial analysis, supporting process review and improvement, and ensuring accurate financial and regulatory reporting.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert for systems within the assigned functions.
  • Reviews and posts entries as assigned.
  • Creates ad hoc reporting and analysis as needed.
  • Proposes changes to policies and procedures to improve compliance, efficiency, and effectiveness.
  • Provides training to LifeCenter and accounting staff.
  • Supports day-to-day banking activities, including managing positive pay exceptions, performing check runs as assigned, and downloading daily bank transactions for entry into the general ledger.
  • Assists department leadership in directing the monthly closing process in compliance with GAAP.
  • Produces assigned monthly financial reports and reconciliations, ensuring financial records are accurate and audit-ready.
  • Completes monthly and ad hoc financial analysis as assigned.
  • Prepares and provides requested documents and information to auditors for annual financial statement and benefit plan audits, as assigned.
  • Assists department leadership in compiling documents, information, and reports for other periodic audit and regulatory requirements.
  • Supports operations and business function leaders with development of ad hoc analysis and financial insight.
  • Supports department leadership with the set-up of annual goals for the department.
  • Supports department leadership with non-routine projects
  • Participates in, and may lead, employee committees and events.
  • Complies with applicable laws, regulations, and LifeCenter policies and procedures.
