About The Position

The Senior Accountant is responsible for general accounting, month-end close activities, account reconciliations, financial analysis, reporting, and process improvement initiatives for Leica Biosystems, Inc. The role supports multiple operating company ledgers and requires a strong understanding of accounting standards, internal controls, and financial reporting requirements. It reports to the Senior Accounting Manager II and is part of Leica Biosystems shared accounting services in Deer Park, Illinois. The position is onsite. The role covers accounting for U.S. and Canadian entities, including close activities, audit support, compliance, and accounting processes for cash, leases, fixed assets, and other assigned areas. It also contributes to inventory accounting and analysis and to improving accounting workflows and reporting.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
At least 5 years of progressive accounting experience.
Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, SOX compliance, financial reporting, and internal controls.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, SUMIFS, and other advanced functions.
Experience with ERP systems.

Responsibilities

Perform general accounting activities for U.S. and Canadian entities, including month-end close, journal entry preparation, account reconciliations, audit support, and GAAP-compliant financial reporting.
Participate in compliance activities, including internal and external audits, SOX testing, and remediation efforts.
Execute and maintain accounting processes related to cash, leases, fixed assets, and other assigned areas of responsibility.
Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, streamline workflows, and enhance reporting efficiency and accuracy.
Assist with inventory accounting and analysis, including reserve reviews and inventory-related reconciliations.
