About The Position

Barminco is currently seeking a Senior Accountant to join the Denver, Colorado team! The Senior Accountant is responsible for operations accounting related activities with the primary objective of producing timely, accurate, reliable, and relevant financial information effectively and efficiently. The Senior Accountant is the finance business partner to our mining operations. This role plays a critical part in supporting the strategic decision-making process by providing accurate financial information, conducting analysis and collaborating with operations on the preparation and analysis of cost records and reports, the end of month close functions and developing budgets & forecasts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
  • Proven experience as a Senior Accountant or in a similar role, with at least 5 years’ experience
  • Strong understanding of cost accounting principles and practices (GAAP/IFRS).
  • Proficient in financial modelling and analysis
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Excel and financial software

Nice To Haves

  • Preference will be given to candidates with a CPA or CMA designation.
  • Proficiency in ERP software and experience with large scale ERP (i.e. SAP or Pronto) is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provides support and finance advice to site-based operations teams, responding and acting upon finance related queries.
  • Conduct month end close functions including, but not limited to, preparing journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, cost control and variance analysis, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of financial reports.
  • Collaborate with operations to develop budgets and forecasts.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management.
  • Communicate operational financial results and trends to non-financial stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
  • Develop and maintain financial models to support operational strategic initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting principles, company policies, and relevant regulations.
  • Assist in the coordination of internal and external audits.
  • Continuously evaluate finance procedures to increase effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Confidence and understanding of payroll procedures ‘end to end’ to provide support to the payroll function.
