About The Position

As a Senior Accountant, you'll play a key role in Modigent's corporate financial operations, taking ownership of critical accounting functions across our growing family of operating companies. You'll lead aspects of the monthly close process, prepare accurate financial information, collaborate with management and cross-functional teams, and ensure adherence to GAAP, internal policies, and controls in a dynamic, multi-entity environment. Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum of 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a multi-entity, project-based, service-oriented, or construction/mechanical environment.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Advanced proficiency in accounting systems/ERP platforms (e.g., Sage Intacct or similar) and Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, data modeling, etc.).
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Strong commitment to detail-oriented financial accounting, reporting, and analysis.
  • Collaborative team player with experience sharing knowledge and mentoring peers.
  • Highly organized with proven ability to manage multiple priorities, projects, and deadlines.
  • Advanced critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical abilities.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while exercising sound judgment.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and post monthly journal entries, allocation entries, accruals, prepaids, and adjustments in the general ledger.
  • Lead and ensure timely, accurate completion of monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes, including financial statement preparation support.
  • Analyze, reconcile, and review balance sheet accounts; identify and resolve variances promptly.
  • Manage revenue and cost recognition for work-in-process (WIP) projects, including reconciliations, journal entries, and coordination with project managers, estimators, and operations teams.
  • Partner with the corporate assets team to record, maintain, depreciate, and reconcile fixed assets, capital leases, intangible assets, and related schedules.
  • Process payroll-related journal entries and perform associated reconciliations.
  • Collaborate with shared services teams (e.g., accounts payable, cash applications) to verify transaction accuracy, reconcile subledgers, and ensure proper general ledger posting.
  • Review and analyze monthly income statement activity to confirm complete and accurate accruals, deferrals, and expense recognition.
  • Document, refine, and improve business processes, accounting policies, and internal controls to enhance financial integrity and efficiency.
  • Perform monthly financial analysis to identify trends, risks, cost-saving opportunities, and performance improvement areas.
  • Engage with operations, project teams, and other departments to provide financial insights and support decision-making.
  • Assist external auditors during annual audits by preparing schedules, responding to inquiries, and ensuring timely completion.
  • Monitor departmental workflows, develop efficient procedures, and maintain high standards of accuracy.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with GAAP, applicable laws/regulations, and internal policies while safeguarding financial data.
  • Respond promptly to inquiries from executives, management, and stakeholders regarding financial results, variances, and ad-hoc reporting.
  • Lead or support special projects, process improvements, and other tasks as assigned.
