About The Position

The Senior Accountant oversees daily accounting operations, ensures GAAP compliance, supports month-end close, and prepares complex financial reports. Oversees general ledger maintenance, reconciliations, and reviews financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to procedural standards. Ensures compliance with internal controls, company policies, and regulatory requirements. Collaborates with auditors during financial audits and assists in the preparation of tax filings. Provides financial insights and recommendations to management to support strategic decisionmaking. Mentors junior accounting staff and supports process improvements within the accounting department.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field.
  • 4–6+ years of progressive accounting experience, often including public accounting experience.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs) and experience with accounting software like SAP, Oracle, or Sage.
  • High attention to detail, organized, and proficient in high volume data analysis.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • Ability to interact effectively and professionally at all levels of the organization

Nice To Haves

  • CPA (Certified Public Accountant) certification or CPA candidate preferred, not required.

Responsibilities

  • Financial Reporting & Analysis: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, performing variance analysis as compared to prior year, budget and forecast.
  • General Ledger & Reconciliations: Maintain the general ledger, perform various year-end audit ready account reconciliations.
  • Month-End Close: Support the month-end and year-end closing processes to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
  • Compliance & Audit: Ensure compliance with GAAP, assist with external audit preparations, and resolve audit discrepancies.
  • Tax Support: Prepare required data to support the filing of federal, state, and local tax returns, as well as preparing monthly and quarterly sales and use tax filings.
  • Asset Lifecycle Management: Recording newly acquired fixed assets, processing transfers, and managing disposals or retirements in the Fixed Asset Register (FAS).
  • Depreciation & Amortization: Calculating and recording monthly depreciation for tangible assets and amortization for intangible assets.
  • Construction in Progress (CIP): Tracking and analyzing capital project expenditures, ensuring costs are properly allocated to CIP accounts, and capitalizing projects once they are placed in service.
  • Reconciliations & Reporting: Reconciling the fixed asset subsidiary ledger to the general ledger (G/L) and preparing roll forward schedules for financial statements
  • Inventory Fixed assets: Tag assets at all the manufacturing plants to tie to fixed asset listing within the fixed asset system
  • Inventory & Verification: Coordinating periodic physical inventory counts and asset tagging initiatives to verify the existence and condition of assets.
  • Audit & Tax Support: Providing documentation for internal and external auditors and assisting the tax department with property tax filings and depreciation forecasting.
  • Other duties: credit card administration and spend reporting, managing request for certificates of insurance for suppliers and customers, AP vouchering of supplier invoices, and TBD
