About The Position

The Senior Accountant is responsible for providing advanced accounting support, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in financial reporting, performing complex reconciliations and analyses, and supporting month‑end / year‑end close processes. This role serves as a key contributor in maintaining the integrity of the general ledger and in ensuring compliance with accounting principles and internal controls. The Senior Accountant may also provide guidance to junior accounting staff and support audit activities.

Requirements

  • Thorough understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and accounting standards.
  • Strong technical accounting skills: journal entries, reconciliations, financial statements, intercompany accounting, deferred revenue / expense, etc.
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving, and attention to detail.
  • Proficient with ERP/accounting systems (e.g. NetSuite, Oracle, SAP, etc.) and advanced skills in Excel.
  • Strong organizational skills; ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal; able to present financial information to non‑financial stakeholders.
  • High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professional ethics.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
  • Typically 5‑7+ years of progressive accounting experience (including experience in closing, reconciliations, financial reporting).

Nice To Haves

  • CPA, CMA, or other relevant certification preferred.
  • Experience in audit support or external audits is a plus.
  • Prior experience mentoring or supervising junior staff is beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end closing processes, including journal entries, accruals, amortizations, and reconciliations.
  • Maintain and analyze general ledger accounts; prepare and reconcile balance sheet accounts.
  • Prepare financial statements (income statement, balance sheet, cash flows) in accordance with GAAP (or other applicable standards).
  • Perform variance analysis, budget vs actual, and other financial analyses; provide insights and recommendations to management.
  • Reconcile bank accounts, accounts receivable, accounts payable, prepaid and deferred accounts, intercompany transactions, and other key balance sheet items.
  • Ensure revenue recognition, expense recognition, and other accounting treatments comply with internal policies and applicable accounting standards.
  • Assist in external and internal audits; prepare schedules, provide documentation, and respond to auditor inquiries.
  • Identify process improvements; help strengthen internal controls and accounting policies; strive to increase efficiency and accuracy of financial operations.
  • Mentor or train junior accounting staff; review their work for accuracy.
  • Generate reports as needed for senior leadership; support forecasting, budgeting, and cash flow planning.
  • Complete ad hoc accounting / financial tasks or special projects as assigned.
