Senior Accountant

Zip SecurityNew York, NY

About The Position

We’re hiring a Senior Accountant to help build and own the financial foundation that will support Zip Security through our next stage of growth. You’ll be responsible for the day-to-day accounting operations of the business, including the general ledger, accounts payable and receivable, billing, payroll, and monthly and quarterly close. You’ll also partner closely with our fractional CFO and teams across the company on revenue accounting, commissions, financial reporting, internal controls, and other strategic finance and operational initiatives. This is a highly hands-on role for someone who enjoys both running the details and building better processes. As Zip grows, you’ll have the opportunity to establish systems, controls, and accounting practices that can scale with the company.

Requirements

  • Strong accounting foundation with experience owning or meaningfully contributing to monthly close, general ledger, AP/AR, billing, and financial reporting.
  • Experience operating across multiple areas of accounting rather than working exclusively within one narrow function.
  • Comfortable working hands-on and independently in a fast-moving, high-growth environment where processes are still being built.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate financial records while managing multiple priorities.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with teams such as Sales, People, Operations, and company leadership.
  • Ability to identify operational gaps and build practical, scalable accounting processes and internal controls.
  • Clear communicator who can translate accounting and financial information for non-finance stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with tools such as Rippling, Ramp, Carta, or similar finance and HR systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Own core accounting operations across the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, collections, payroll, and monthly and quarterly close.
  • Maintain accurate and timely financial reporting, partnering with our fractional CFO to prepare information for leadership, Board, and investor reporting.
  • Own revenue accounting and billing operations, including recurring and one-time revenue treatment, customer invoicing and portals, collections, and revenue reporting across direct and partner/channel sales.
  • Partner cross-functionally on financial operations, including working with Sales Operations on commission calculations and payouts and supporting analysis of cost of sales and gross margin.
  • Manage key finance systems and processes, including Ramp, expense reimbursement, travel and expense policies, Rippling payroll, banking workflows, and other financial tooling.
  • Strengthen our financial infrastructure by developing scalable processes and internal controls that protect company assets and maintain the accuracy of our financial records.
  • Support tax, audit, and compliance activities, working with external tax providers and auditors as needed to meet federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Support broader company finance and operations initiatives including banking and treasury activities, venture debt administration, contract management, Carta, insurance, and Board preparation.

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation, equity, and comprehensive health benefits starting on day one
  • 401(k) plan to help you invest in your future
  • Flexible hybrid work environment
  • Monthly wellness benefits to help you stay active, healthy, and balanced in whatever way works best for you
  • Comprehensive family-building, fertility, and hormonal health benefits to support you through every stage of life
  • High ownership, autonomy, and the opportunity to shape a rapidly growing company
  • Fully stocked office with endless snacks, coffee, and tea, plus Zip swag and team outings
