Requirements

  • 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience, with hands-on full-cycle accounting experience required.
  • Formal accounting training, such as a post-secondary degree in Accounting or a related discipline.
  • Excellent knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel and Word) as well as Google Sheets and Google Docs.
  • Strong analytical skills with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail, and the ability to meet strict deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain trust-based relationships with vendors and cross-functional internal stakeholders.
  • English is required as this role will support our team and suppliers across Canada.

Nice To Haves

  • A CPA designation is preferred, or active pursuit of the CPA designation is considered a strong asset.
  • Experience with QuickBooks Online is an asset, as is experience with other similar enterprise or cloud-based accounting software.
  • French fluency is considered a strong asset.

Responsibilities

  • Manage our accounts payable processes end to end, including weekly payments to vendors, reconciling vendor accounts to statements, and preparing monthly accruals and vendor remittances.
  • Own key month-end close procedures using full-cycle accounting, maintaining working papers and performing monthly accounting for fixed assets, accruals, inventory, payroll, and other expense accounts.
  • Participate in the preparation of weekly cash flow information to support the weekly cash flow forecasting process, in coordination with FP&A.
  • Communicate with vendors on account matters and maintain appropriate payment terms within our accounts payable process.
  • Occasionally process driver payroll, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Prepare monthly reconciliations for bank, credit card, and other balance sheet accounts, investigating and resolving discrepancies promptly.
  • Assist the Controller in preparing monthly financial statements and supporting schedules, including variance analysis against budget and prior periods.
  • Support the year-end audit with external auditors, preparing working paper schedules and responses to external auditor requests.
  • Assist with the preparation and filing of GST/PST/QST and other government remittances, ensuring deadlines and requirements are consistently met.
